Lion-Hearted Kindness: Volunteers Care For A Paralyzed Feline
In San Paulo, Brazil, a paralyzed lion named Ariel has found sanctuary with two loving homo sapiens. Veterinarian Livia Pereira and shelter-owner Raquel Borges have been caring for their 310 pound adoptee for the past year after a degenerative disease immobilized his legs. The lion spends his days resting on a mattress in the middle of Pereira's home, racking up a monthly medical bill of roughly $11,500 which is generously paid by donations from the 34,250 people who have "Liked" Ariel on Facebook.
