Film critics agree: bunny costumes have a way of stealing the spotlight, whether they’re delivering slapstick humor, adding a sassy twist to a party scene, or adding pure nightmare fuel in a slasher flick. There’s just something about those floppy ears and fluffy tails that dial up the cinematic drama. Whether you find them laugh-out-loud funny, scream-out-loud scary, or simply sweet and fluffy, these costumed characters are impossible to forget. Let’s check out 15 memorable bunny suits from the small screen to the silver screen!

1. Friends (Season 8, Episode 6) – Chandler’s Pink Bunny Suit
In “The One With the Halloween Party,” Monica makes Chandler wear a fluffy pink bunny costume, because his favorite childhood book was The Velveteen Rabbit. In other news, Monica is Cat Woman, Phoebe is Super Girl, Rachel is a woman who bought an expensive dress and wants to show it off, and Joey shows up dressed as Chandler.

2. Donnie Darko (2001) – Frank the Bunny
While most of the bunnies on our list tend to be cute and fluffy, this one’s downright creepy! In this cult classic film, Frank, the terrifying figure in the metallic rabbit suit, appears to Donnie periodically, urging him to do destructive things, and warning him of impending doom. Frank’s origin is revealed later in the film, but we’re not gonna spoil it for you here!

3. Mean Girls (2004) – Regina George’s Bunny Costume
Regina George, with the support of her “cool mom,” dons a classic sexy bunny outfit — ears, corset, tail, and knee-high, furry boots — on a mission to steal Aaron Samuels away from Cady at the high schoolers’ Halloween Party.

4. A Christmas Story (1983) – Ralphie’s Pink Bunny Costume
And of course, no list of bunny costumes would be complete without A Christmas Story! Poor Ralphie receives a ridiculous pink bunny costume in this beloved holiday film, a gift from his well-meaning Aunt Clara. All he wanted was a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle, and his disappointment is, well, pretty obvious.

5. Bridget Jones’s Diary (2001) – Bridget in the Bunny Outfit
Bridget shows up to a “Tarts and Vicars” themed party wearing a revealing Playboy Bunny costume — complete with ears, tail, corset, and cuffs — only to discover that the party theme has been cancelled and everyone else is dressed in elegant garden party attire. It’s a hilarious moment that captures her endearing, bumbling, cringe-filled charm, and her willingness to make the best of an awkward situation.

6. The Masked Singer (US Season 1) – The Rabbit Contestant
Now here’s a new take on a bunny costume–part robotic, part apocalyptic, part straight-jacket, and part of a singing competition show! A mystery singer performed in this full body bunny costume in Season 1 of The Masked Singer, hopping and singing his way to the final rounds of the reality competition, stealing the spotlight with songs like “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” Are you wondering who the rabbit was? Spoiler alert, unmask him here!

7. Sister, Sister (Season 3, Episode 7) – Ray in a Fluffy White Bunny Suit
Ray and Lisa head to a Halloween party, dressed as a fluffy white bunny and a beauty queen, respectively. When they enter the room they find out, much to their chagrin, that it’s not actually a costume party! Lisa is able to remove her sash and tiara to blend into the party, but Ray decides to hop away in disgrace.

8. Bob’s Burgers – Louise, all the time
Louise Belcher is *almost* never seen without her pink bunny-eared hat. In fact, her commitment to the ears is so complete, that the ears stay on at all times, while she sleeps, and even underneath an Edward Scissorhands Halloween costume! The only time we see Louise without her ears is Season 3, Episode 1 (“Ear-sy Rider”): Logan the bully steals her ears and she goes to extreme lengths to retrieve them, emerging victorious.

9. Mr. Horatio Knibbles (1970) – Mr. Horatio Knibbles the imaginary friend
In this British children’s film, a child named Mary doesn’t get the rabbit she wants for her birthday… but she does get a pet of sorts in the form of a giant, anthropomorphic white rabbit…an imaginary friend only she can see, named Mr. Horatio Knibbles. (A giant rabbit invisible to all but one person sounds like a reference to the 1950 film Harvey, in which Elwood Dowd has an invisible rabbit friend. Harvey didn’t make our bunny costume list, as he is never actually seen in the film!)

10. Bunnyman (2011), The Bunnyman Massacre (2014), Bunnyman Vengeance (2017) – Bunnyman
Caution, gentle reader: this one’s not for kids, or the faint of heart!! This trio of ultra gory slasher films feature a hulking, chainsaw-wielding murderer who wears a filthy, oversized Easter Bunny costume. The unsettling contrast between the smiling, childhood-nostalgia-channeling outfit and the gore-heavy violence is the entire gimmick — and it’s gained a cult following among fans of low-budget horror.

11. Mallrats (1995) – Easter Bunny Fight Scene
In Kevin Smith’s Mallrats, Jay and Silent Bob beat up a mall Easter Bunny in front of a crowd of kids, who end up joining in the fight, in one of the movie’s most ridiculous slapstick moments. It turns out that the Bunny in question was falsely accused of assault… and you better believe that plot thickens!

12. Legally Blonde (2001) – Elle Woods’ Pink Bunny Costume
In what appears to be a grand tradition in TV and movie lore (We’re looking at you, Bridget Jones, and also at you, Ray from Sister, Sister)… Elle Woods shows up at a Harvard party in a bunny costume, only to find that it’s not a costume party at all! Elle decides to own the look and keep her bunny ears held high, making it one of the most memorable scenes in the film.

13. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Season 4, Episode 4) – Anya in a Bunny Costume
In the episode “Fear, Itself,” Anya — who is ironically terrified of bunnies — shows up to a Halloween party in a giant fluffy bunny suit, playing up her phobia for laughs.

14. Beaches (1988) – Sing-a-Gram Rabbit
In this comedic drama about a decades-long friendship, Bette Midler’s character CC, a struggling actress and singer, delivers a singing birthday telegram dressed as a rabbit. The recipient, a theater director, is so impressed with her voice that he ends up offering her an audition.

15. North (1994) – Mysterious Mentor Rabbit
And last, but certainly not least, Bruce Willis dons a fuzzy pink bunny suit in the movie North. Willis is the narrator of the film, and pops up several times throughout the film as different characters to offer North (Elijah Wood) advice on his journey to find the perfect parents. This isn’t the first time the esteemed Mr. Willis has shown up here on Hop to Pop… we’ve found him wearing bunny slippers in two other films!
