How To Draw Bugs Bunny: Hop Art Instruction From An Old Pro

This week we released a brand new design to our character slippers collection. We think this slipper style filled a void we had long sensed was present in our catalog. You see, we had the classic bunny slipper, the brown bunny slipper, the killer rabbit slipper, and even flip-hop bunny spa sandals… but we didn’t have any slippers in the style of the reigning cartoon king of Lapin Land, until now.

Eh, what’s up doc?

To celebrate the recent addition of these Bugs Bunny Slippers to Bunnyslippers.com, we’d like to share a vintage clip of legendary animator Chuck Jones presenting a step by step lesson on drawing this ‘wascally wabbit’.

I Am Jack’s Smirking Bunny Slippers

What do a pair of our classic bunny slippers and Fight Club have in common? Both belong to Chuck Palahniuk, a local Portland author known for novels like Invisible Monster, Choke, and the aforementioned, wildly popular Fight Club.

Palahniuk and fellow Portland authors Chelsea Cain and Lidia Yuknavitch threw an event at Northeast Portland’s indie bookstore Broadway Books to drum up excitement around Yuknavitch’s new book, Bedtime Stories for Grown-Ups‘ and tickets sold out almost immediately. In the spirit of the event, the three authors showed up in their bedtime attire, down to three identical pairs of classic bunny slippers.

Channel 8 was there to cover the event, and got some excellent footage of the three authors in their cozy sleepwear. Check out the video below:

Grunge Bunny

This Friday, H2P is offering up a blast from the past. We’ve dug up an early 90’s image carrot from our vaults that is sure to leave you with “Smells Like Teen Spirit” stuck in your head.

Run, Rabbit, Run!

In 2009, the Syfy channel ran a TV miniseries called Alice. The show combined elements of   science fiction and fantasy with the Lewis Carroll novel of similar name. The Syfy channel partnered up with creative agency Fallon to create promotional materials for the show. The one below appealed to us for obvious reasons…

We love this piece of high-flying hop art!

‘Tis But a Fleshwound!

There’s a lot going on in this shirt, but that’s kind of why we like it. This Batman x Monty Python crossover piece over at Shirtoid is well executed enough that we can give in to the über-nerd in us. It will go perfectly with a pair of our killer rabbit slippers.

H2P Special Report: US Presidents and Easter Bunnies

Each year in early April, families around the United States open their eyes and hurry out to the kitchen table to see what the Easter Bunny has lovingly placed in their basket. The Easter Bunny is a well-liked household figure for many homes in America – a symbol of dedication, hard work, and sweet, sweet candy. But the Easter Bunny does more than just bring chocolate bunnies door-to-door. What if I told you that the Easter Bunny also makes a delivery to the White House on Easter? A very special delivery… A giant Easter egg roll on the White House South lawn!

Here are some glamour shots of the President hamming it up with the Super Secret Member of Seal Team 6 Easter Bunny:

Potassi-YUM: Chubby Bunny Devours Banana, Internet Sighs Collectively.

Anything humans can do, bunnies can do cuter. We’ve proven this in past posts, too. Bunnies are just cuter at waging war, being zombies, looking angry – all the stuff humans just can’t seem to cute-ify.

For homo sapiens, ‘chubby bunny’ involves packing your cheeks with marshmallows until you look like this guy:

Now, for bunnies, chubby bunny means kicking back in a friends lap getting your daily potassium intake on. Observe:

Bunny Battle Royale

As part of the Christmas Critters programming on Conan O’Brien’s Live Coco Cam, a group of little rabbits were brought together to reenact the famous 1944 WWII battle the Siege of Bastogne (sans shrapnel). Although the live feed is over, Team Coco was kind enough to post stills of the epic battle here.

Below, we’ve embedded a few of our favorites:
