Popular Symbolic Meanings of Shoes and Slippers

November 11, 2013

You might consider shoes and slippers as a regular part of your wardrobe, but they can actually carry deep symbolic meanings related to our very physical and mental essence. As confirmed by numerous experts, shoes have a message that they carry, symbolizing our state of mind on many levels. So right now we’ll focus on some of those meanings. Join us as we make a rundown of shoe symbolic, tradition and superstition.

A big shoe made out of many smaller shoes

Tight shoes in dreams – Wearing tight shoes in dreams is a clear indication of a hard journey, reflecting some of the issues you are currently facing or a long road you’re walking in life. Much pain and heartache might be involved.

Wearing comfy shoes in dreams – Comfortable shoes on your feet mean that you’re a lucky man at a proper place in life. Things are going good for now, it’s good being in your shoes!

Buying shoes in dreams – You have a long road ahead of you friend. It might be tough sometimes, but you have to make it and you know it. Your goals are set, it’s up to you to reach them.

Dirty ragged shoes in dreams – An indication that your faith is being tested. And it’s not just spiritual faith, but any of the vast array of life trials ahead of you.

Call of love – It is believed that by placing shoes on the left side of one’s bed in the shape of a letter “T,” his or her love will come in their sleep.

Tossing old boots – Back in the wild west, people used to throw old boots at departing ships for sailors’ safe return home. It might seem weird to see folks tossing old slippers and sneakers at boats, but that was the tradition back in the day.

Shoes as authority – Back in the day when shoes were a luxurious item, owning a pair of cozy feet-warmers was a status symbol. Even these days, people’s social status is somewhat reflected in their shoes.

Shoes as a sex symbol – Finally, shoes can serve as a sexually provocative item, emphasizing sexuality and their more erotic aspect.

So when life gives you tight shoes to walk in, at least make sure they’re a pair of unicorn slippers. Anyhow, got any other shoe symbolism to share? Let us know in the comments.

What about short, black, pointy toe shoes?
